Glass Music and Quartet coming soon...

Here is a new original track form Brien Engel. Brien is the artist who made the tuned wine glasses for the Absolut Quartet. Brien performs and lectures all over. He is a talented musician and educator. We were fortunate to find him and work with him. You can see more about his music and his lectures and more information about glass as an instrument on his website, http://glassharp.org/
.

The Quartet machine is now set up and running at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria for all of 2009. The website where you can interact from anywhere should be up by early February. We'll be looking for composers and coders as well. We're going all open source with the project. More soon...

February 3, 2000: In Charm's Way

This clip just resurfaced when my friend Maiya saw it on facebook.com.
We were just walking down the Infinite with our nerd kits on the way to 2.007 in the Pappalardo Lab. We were no dunderheads.

A New (Old) Model for Farming

Two of my favorite farming experts, Wes Jackson and Wendell Berry, recently shared their thoughts on how to improve America's domestic farming practices. The piece is short and direct, so I won't waste your time paraphrasing it much here.

Check it out.

If all that sounds good to you, then be sure to visit the website for Food Democracy Now and sign the petition to let YOUR government know that you want the USDA to adopt sustainable farming practices going forward. Future generations (and your taste buds) will thank you.
